Rick,

It goes like this: Gretchen Priest-May (and her husband, Tim May) have been giving people of all ages (kids on up) music lessons for years. They also live in Pegram. Grecthen's longtime dream has been to have a "music center" where she could teach students, individually or in groups, hold jams, do house concerts, etc.

She and Tim finally bought an old (and pretty neat) building in Pegram and worked for months to make her dream come true. It's not a restaurant, not a bar, and it doesn't serve food or drink of any kind. It's not a music store, though it does have a bulliten board where individuals can advertise an instrument for sale (with Gretchen's approval).

It has a main central room with sort of a stage area on one side. This room is for jams, dances, workshops, small concerts, and church services on Sunday mornings. It also has an office, which doubles as a teaching room for small groups, about 8 music rooms for private lessons, and a breakroom with a refrigerator for the instructors.

She arranges for various musicians to teach lessons there, and she collects a small fee for letting them use the space. (I'm one of her banjo teachers, though I don't have any students yet.)

It either has a Web page that I haven't seen yet, or it will soon have a Web page (probably www.fiddleandpick.com<http://www.fiddleandpick.com/>, but I can't be sure).

It's full name is "Fiddle and Pick, Musical Heritage Center of Middle Tennesse."

If you haven't seen it yet, you should drop by. It's a friendly, comfortable place.

  Yo Sparky,

Is the "Fiddle & Pick" a music store, coffee house, nite-club
restaurant/bar or something else. What is the usual mode of operation beyond
the alternate Tuesday event. A web-page perhaps?

                                                        R.Fretter

  Friends,

The Fiddle and Pick will host Tuesdays (tomorrow's) old-time jam from 7 to 9
PM and will continue hosting it every other Tuesday from now on. Please come
  out and join us!

It's not far at all--the first exit after the Bellevue Exit.

  Directions*****
  >From Nashville take I-40 West to Exit 192 (the Natchez Trace/McCrory
  >Lane exit). Turn right (north) off of the exit, and go about 1 mile to
  >Highway 70. Turn left (west) onto 70 and go about two miles to Pegram.
  >When
you come to the first traffic light, the Fiddle and Pick will be on the far
right corner, next door to Harpeth Clock and Quilt.

  Parking*****
You can park in front of the Fiddle and Pick or you can park around back.
Because the jam will be held after business hours and Harpeth Clock and
Quilt will be closed, the nice folks at Harpeth Clock and Quilt have given
us permisson to use their prarking lot as well.

If you have questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
